Research can be frustrating, You enter your search terms and get multitudes of low quality results – too many to sift through seeking suitable articles. Fortunately there are a number of advanced search methods that can be used to make your life just a little bit easier.

The techniques outlined below should improve research results. These examples are from D’YouSearch, the library search engine, but will work in many most popular databases in our collection including CINAHL, Medline and Academic Search Premier.

Research that is as easy as online shopping. Use search filters to find better results in D’YouSearch!

D’YouSearch is a huge database containing millions of full text articles from thousands of journals, newspapers, books and more. It finds information from across disciplines from a single search box. Finding a lot of information is not hard, much like Google. Sorting through results can be intimidating and time consuming.

D’YouSearch has several search filters that can help you find that perfect article in just a couple of clicks though.

Looking for the best research database? Use this tool to find one that is right for your search!

Knowing where to search is one of the most intimidating things about using the library resources. Finding the database that has the best quality resources can take time that you don’t have. There are over 100 databases in the D’Youville Library collection, each one with a different focus. Going through each database would take too much time – the kind of time it might take to sort through 4 million results on Google.

The D’YouSearch database will not only help you find great articles, but it can also lead you to other great resources. This guide will show you how to use the D’YouSearch “Database” filter to find additional databases for your research.
